About Lurline and Allan Wagner

Our strong passion for tea encouraged us to open a tearoom. Lurline presently works at the university hospital in the Microbiology Department. And, on an occasional day off from work, she looked for a tearoom to spend some relaxing time, shortly after arriving in the United States from Alberta, Canada. She could not find one in the Richmond area. She found herself thinking about her Chinese grandfather, growing up as a young girl in Manila, Philippines, sipping tea with him from a Chinese teacup. The family moved to Canada where there is still a strong British influence.  Naturally having tea is considered a part of one’s life.

Allan is a graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University and attended the Virginia Military Institute. He soon stopped drinking coffee shortly after he met Lurline and only drinks tea for his hot beverage of choice.

We decided it was the right time to open a relaxing place where one can find solace, peace, and spend an afternoon drinking tea with friends and family. We have done extensive tea tasting and have built a fabulous tea menu. We have researched tea extensively, so that we have high quality tea at reasonable prices. We carry tea accessories and tea books. Lurline graduated from the University of Richmond Culinary Arts Program and is certified from the Specialty Tea Institute. We invite all of our customers to visit us. Cuppa Tea Company, Ltd. is already open, but stay tuned for our official grand opening.
