Types of Tea
Tea is a drink made by infusing
leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis or Thea sinensis)
in hot water. There is only one plant that produces
tea.
Types of Tea
Black tea is made from
the leaves that have been fully oxidized. Hearty deep rich
flavour coloured amber brew. Most commonly used in North
America.
Green tea is not
oxidized. It has a delicate taste, light green color and is
very refreshing. Most popular in Asia.
Oolong refers to partly
oxidized leaves, combining the taste and color qualities of
black and green tea.
White tea is the most
delicate of all teas. The new buds are plucked before they
open in early spring, then withered and dried slowly at low
temperature.
Flavoured teas are real teas blended with fruites,
spices or herbs. Great for iced tea!
Herbs/Tisanes are blended
botanicals made by infusing leaves, fruits, barks, roots, or
flowers of edible non-tea plants.
Pu-erh is an unusually
larged leafed tea with a characteristic earthy flavor.
Rooibos is an indigenous herb of South Africa. It
grows only in the Cedarberg mountain just north of Capetown.
